Ernie H.A. Walter Architect Inc. at Walter International Inc

  • Ernie H.A. Walter is an architect and President of Ernie H.A. Walter Architect Inc., a company driven by its enthusiasm for creativity, design, and solid development cost.
  • Walter’s roots are gently planted in rural Canada. Growing up in Saskatchewan he was described as “an unusual boy with a creative mind”. This innate desire to create, design and succeed, nurtured the very foundation of an architectural firm that cares about integrating design with the environment in which we live and create opportunities and education to enhance the quality of life, while never forgetting the financial bottom line.
  • Walter’s career began in 1970 as Head of Design for GBR (Green, Blankstein, Russell), then Winnipeg’s largest architectural firm. In 1976 he branched into entrepreneurship with his own architectural/project management/development companies that resulted in more than a billion dollars worth of real estate, with offices in Western Canada and throughout the United States.
  • Walter expanded his horizons in the 1990’s by creating an international architectural/development /real estate service firm within Central America. The firm’s current development projects exceed $1 billion in Central America.
  • His current work includes various local projects, as well as environmentally sustainable building concepts which will allow installation in such diverse locations as Dubai, Toronto, Winnipeg and Hong Kong; feasibility studies and master-plan concepts involving urban and neighbourhood renewal, for which Walter is also acting as an Urban Renewal Consultant and Infrastructure Consultant for the Canadian Federal Government.
  • Besides Walter’s success as an architect and developer, his professional experience also includes acting as managing owner of a Canadian Trust company as well as a small oil and gas corporation with responsibility of equity raising for oil exploration, as well as hotel development and ownership.
  • Professional Associations and awards and recognitions:  An avid supporter of education and training, Walter has given seminars to students on real estate and construction throughout his career. He has been a visiting lecturer at University of Winnipeg, University of Manitoba and Red River College, and sat on the Board of Advisors for the Dean of Faculty of Architecture, University of Manitoba, and was instrumental in the formation of a “First Nations Design and Management Degree” for the Faculty. He has provided training and supervision for skill teaching classes for different organizations, mentored several students to achieve Registered Architect status and has provided office training for architectural internship through his career. Walter’s civic involvement also extends into government, active in the Liberal Party of Canada as past organizational advisor.
